National Research Company was founded in 1950 to supply critical and strategic materials to the U.S. domestic economy. Our expertise grew from recycling the diamond and tungsten carbide generated by the grinding of tungsten tooling — a waste stream everyone else discarded, turned into a dependable source of raw material.

Seven decades on, we manufacture and reclaim tungsten carbide and industrial diamond, and supply diamond, tungsten carbide, copper, silver and other green energy metals into the marketplace. We are one of very few companies in the United States able to domestically produce and supply these strategic resources into essential industrial pipelines, while offering cost savings to manufacturers and consumers.

Divisions

Reclamation, analysis and step-up manufacturing.

02 — What we do

Reliable engineering takes many forms.

Five capabilities, operated under one roof, covering material in and material out.

S/01

Strategic material reclamation

Recovery of tungsten carbide and industrial diamond from grinding swarf, scrap tooling and process residues.

S/02

Analytical services

Assay and characterization of incoming streams so customers know exactly what their material contains.

S/03

Diamond manufacturing

New industrial diamond manufacture and distribution, supplied through NRC Abrasives and Abracon.

S/04

Industrial waste treatment

Treatment of the metal-bearing wastes generated by manufacturing, handled domestically.

S/05

Step-up manufacturing

Value-added conversion that returns reclaimed material to the form the customer's line actually needs.

Return to the customer's supply chain

National Research does not recognize itself as simply a supply organization but rather a service provider to global supply chains — both incoming and outgoing. Working in step with customers, we specialize in strategic mineral preparations resulting in a unique stream of raw materials, recycling services of wastes, and value-added step-up manufacturing.

05 — Green energy metals

Recycling was the business model before it was a mandate.

Every pound of tungsten carbide and industrial diamond we reclaim is a pound that does not have to be mined, imported or landfilled. The same reclamation lines supply copper, silver and other green energy metals into the marketplace, alongside industrial waste treatment for the manufacturers who generate them.

06 — Why NRC

Few can do this domestically.

Domestic capability

One of very few companies in the United States able to produce and supply these strategic resources into essential industrial pipelines.

Cost savings

Reclaimed material carries a lower delivered cost than newly mined and imported supply, for manufacturers and consumers alike.

70+ years of expertise

Founded in 1950, with process knowledge built on decades of recycling tungsten and diamond grinding streams.
